Hi Doctor.. Good morning! I want to ask you if there is any treatment for Chickenguniya joint pains. I had the fever in Aug 2016 and doctor said it could be chickenguniya. Although the fever lasted for 2 days only but since then I am having paint on my left ankle and left side of foot. I took some allopathic and ayurvedic medicines but no help. Kindly help if there is any other way or it will go on it s own.

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Chikungunya is an infection caused by the chikungunya virus. Most people infected with chikungunya virus will develop symptoms which include fever and joint pain.
Treatment includes:
1. Take rest.
2. Drink fluids to prevent dehydration.
3. Take medicine such as acetaminophen or paracetamol to reduce fever and pain.
Do not take aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
Symptoms could last for few weeks. Gradually, you should get better and be back to normal.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
Regards,
Dr.Ashakiran.S.,
